Stage one gets off to a great beginning with its start in Davis considered to be the most bicycle friendly city in the nation according to the League of American Bicyclist. He fought to maintain his lead through the day and despite the extremely weather conditions he held off the main chase group containing this years tours favorites. Two riders bridged the gap once they race reached the 3 lap circuit in Santa Rose. Looking like his day was spoiled Mancebo pulled from his remaining reserves and Won the bunch sprint in fine victory fashion. His performance earned him all three of the Leaders Jerseys'. | |
