Garmin-SlipstreamLeipheimer Takes the Leader Jersey After another grueling day in the rain Levi Leipheimer made his move for the overall lead on Bonny Doon Road. This 2,000 foot climb provided the ideal launching board for his next Tour of California Victory. “I had it in my head that I was going to try to win today,” said Leipheimer. “I looked around and saw that people were at their limit, but I felt really strong and inspired at that moment, so I went for it.” Thomas Peterson of Garmin-Slipstream held Levi's wheel into Santa Cruz to take the stage win with a final sprint for the line. Stage 2 Jersey Summary Amgen Leader Jersey, was awarded to Levi Leipheimer (USA) of Astana. Herbalife Sprint Jersey, was awarded to Francisco Mancebo (ESP) of Rock Racing. California Travel & Tourism Commission King of the Mountain (KOM) Jersey, was awarded to Francisco Mancebo (ESP) of Rock Racing. Amgen’s Breakaway from Cancer™ Most Courageous Rider Jersey went to Ben Jacques-Maynes (USA) of Bissell Racing Rabobank Best Young Rider Jersey was awarded Robert Gesink (NED) of Rabobank. |
